Dual damage type

Postby The Unknown » Sun Nov 27, 2016 4:25 pm

Vine Whip (and may be some other weapon if exists) deals too much damage. I think not each damage part counts separately and after that sums but instead base damage sums first and only then multiply by effect of each affinity (physical and nature).

I have looked into the whip and I do see a problem with how the information is displayed, but on my side, it doesn't seem to be doing too much damage. Keep in mind that if you have added some points in the trait tree that are "Nature Affinity" this will considerably boost the nature based weapons like the whip. IF this is the case, then it is as designed. The whip will them be more or less affective on certain types of monsters.

I will look further into it to make sure the weapon is no broken in any way, but for now I think it is as designed.

Thanks for the feedback!

Well looks like I have to get numbers...

My affinities:
Physical - 34
Nature - 10

Weapon damage (base --- result on bat on Cliffs-5)
Wooden Club (5th lvl) --- 12 phys --- 30-33-37 (base * 2.78 on avg)
Small Bone Dagger (2nd lvl) --- 11 phys --- 35-37-30 (base * 3.09 on avg)
Rustic Pine Whistle (3d lvl) --- 9 nature --- 12-13-11 (base * 1.33 on avg)

Vine Whip (3d lvl) --- 7 phys + 6 nature --- 37-42-38 (avg 39 but have to be 6*1.33 + 7*3.09 = 29.61. It's 1/4 less than avg. It's not by random. It's something with calculations of 2 types damage)
By the way, damage exactly that have to be if whip do 7+6=13 phys damage...

The earth base monster does not resist nature attack,
The whip is strong against earth creature.

The whip does 2 damages type
physical: 7 + base physical affinity (34) (resisted in part)
and nature: 6 + base affinity(10) (almost not resisted)

whip would be not that useful for other monster than earth

Elemental Strong -> Weakness can be explained like this
Nature->Earth->Water->Fire->Air->Nature

Useful info but it's not explane problem. As we see on example of pure nature weapon, weaknesses of bat (if it really have weakness to nature) not compensate huge difference in affinities.

Just took less damage weapons for more clear comparison:

Simple Long Bow (2nd lvl) --- 9 phys --- 30-30-28 (29.3 avg)
Rustic Pine Whistle (1st lvl) --- 7 nature --- 9-10-9 (9.3 avg)

Vine Whip (3d lvl) --- 7 phys + 6 nature --- 37-42-38 (39 avg)

i.e. Vine Whip (3d lvl) deals more damage than sum of that 2 weapons which base damage more than same type part of whip damage.
